What Will You LEARN?

During your Specialty Diver training you will train and experience an in-depth study into a particular field of diving. 

 

Through self learning study materials and a combination of classroom and in water training with your Specialty Instructor you will expand your knowledge and experience. 

 

Specialty courses range in topics. Core courses include Wreck Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox, Deep Diver, Underwater Archaeologist, Underwater Photographer and Night Diver.

 

The Dive Place also offers Specialty Diver Certifications in both diver and non-diver work place specialties. 

What Equipment Will You NEED?

Along with your basic scuba equipment, depending upon the specialty, you’ll need a vairety of equipment.

 

Night Diving - a primary light, a backup light as well as a 

Glo-Stick. 

 

Underwater Navigation - slates, a compass and a 

line reel.

 

Search & Revovery -  a lift-bag, slate and a line reel.

 

Drift Diver - dive flag and line reel.

 

Wreck Diver - slates, lights and a line reel.

Rebreather Diver - Intersorb

​

Drysuit - Your own Drysuit.

 

Your Specialty Instructor and The Dive Place crew may suggest other equipment and options, such as wearing more exposure protection to stay comfortable after dark in cooler water.

What Are The REQUIREMENTS?

The requirements for the many Specialty Diver courses vary a great deal depending upon which course you decide to choose.

 

Some of the Specialties Certifications have a minimum age requirement of 10 years old to enroll, while others require you to be 12, 15 or 18 as with Rebreather Diving.

 

Similarly some of the Specialties require you to be a Open Water Diver while some may require an Advanced Diver Certification is required or a certain number of logged dives as with the Solo Diver Specialty.

How Do You START?

An Open Water or Advanced Open Water Certification or equivalent is required for most courses. 

 

Should you be interested in a particular field of Specialty Diving and require further training to qualify to take that course, we can help you achieve the required training prior to the beginning of your Specialty Course.

 

Specialty Courses are your stepping stones to a whole world of exciting opportunities that awaits you. Perhaps you want to further your training with a Master Diver course or maybe you want to become a dive professional and go all the way to Divemaster or even become a Open Water Scuba Instructor!
